Mississippi is one of the most tax-friendly states for retirees

There are already plenty of perks for those looking to retire in the Magnolia State with a biggie to add to the list: Mississippi ranks No. 4 in the nation among tax-friendly states for retirees.
Mississippi made Kiplinger’s top ten list for a few reasons. For one thing, all qualified retirement income and Social Security benefits are excluded from state income taxes. And when it comes to finding a home, Mississippi boasts low property taxes and homestead exemptions for qualified seniors.
Wyoming ranked No. 1, followed by Alaska and South Dakota. Mississippi is the highest-ranked Southern state on the list, which included Florida (No. 5), Kentucky (No. 9) and Georgia (No. 10).
