Police say a man suspected of participating in a burglary that left a woman dead has stolen multiple vehicles as he eludes a manhunt.

Officials seek Shawan Allen, one of four men wanted in the Saturday death of 21-year-old Zariah Antel Newton in Brookhaven.

Police say Newton was shot when she and her boyfriend found their house being burglarized after getting a security alert.

Local news outlets report Allen was riding in a car driven by his girlfriend on Sunday near Crystal Springs when deputies spotted him.

Allen ran from the car and later stole a county truck, crashing it south of Crystal Springs.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones says someone stopped to check on the crash, only to have Allen steal his 2018 gray Ford Fusion at gunpoint.
