A Mississippi city’s downtown just got a little piece of public art and culture all rolled into one and legendary rocker Elton John would be proud of the result.
A public piano, painted in colorful “Rocket Man” theme reminiscent of Elton John’s 1972 hit song.
Brookhaven musician Blake Scafidel his wife, Carrene, who is also a musician, donated the family piano to be kept on the sidewalk and played by the public.
Blake Scafidel entertained a crowd of approximately 50 that gathered in front of the Downtown Music Academy at noon Friday at the unveiling of the city’s first street piano.
Don Jacobs hand-painted the instrument with an Elton John/Rocket Man theme.
