Mississippi and Louisiana law enforcement authorities are searching for a man they believe has been impersonating a law officer and attempting to pull over young women.
Sheriffs deputies from Wilkinson County, Mississippi, and East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, are working to locate a man driving in a black Dodge Charger with dark tint on the windows. The type of car is the same kind used by many police agencies.
The man reportedly pulled over a a teenager on Highway 33 in Wilkinson County near the Louisiana border last week. The victim reported the man was wearing a police officer’s uniform.
Another, similar incident was reported in late September in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. It’s unclear if the two cases are connected.
St. Charles investigators said that suspect was described as being in his 40s and had a Chinese symbol tattooed on his neck.
In both cases after the people pulled over thought something was fishy and began asking questions, the man left without saying anything, regional media reported.
People who are suspicious during a traffic stop are urged not to flee, but to drive to a populated area and call 911 to verify the authenticity of the stop, police say.
