Deep South’s coronavirus numbers keep driving higher; see state-by-state results

Across the South, the number of cases of the coronavirus continue to drive higher.
Here are the results through Monday morning (note some states have not updated their numbers since yesterday):
Alabama: 831 positive cases, 6 deaths.
Arkansas: 449 positive cases, 6 deaths.
Florida: 5,276 positive cases, 63 deaths.
Georgia: 2,809 positive cases, 87 deaths.
Louisiana: 3,540 positive cases, 151 deaths.
Mississippi: 847 positive cases, 16 deaths.
Tennessee: 1,537 positives cases, 7 deaths.
Texas: 2,552 positive cases, 34 deaths.
Total cases across the Deep South: 17,841
The number of people infected worldwide surpassed the 745,000 mark. Deaths were more than 35,000, but the number of people considered recovered reached more than 156,000, according to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University.
The University’s tracking shows approximately 144,672 cases in the U.S., making the U.S. the country with the highest number of cases in the world.
Everyone is warned to take the necessary precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe and healthy.
These precautions include:
- Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and frequently
- Covering your cough or sneeze with your arm
- Avoiding touching your face
- Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
- Avoiding close contact with others
- And staying home if you are sick
