Mississippi coronavirus cases, deaths rise again after Monday’s recent lows

The Mississippi State Department of Health’s latest statistics released Tuesday morning show the number of COVID-19 coronavirus jumped back up after Monday’s lowest daily death count in two weeks.
and reported that the number of patients hospitalized also improved dramatically.
On Tuesday morning, the state reported an additional 234 new cases has been confirmed in the last 24 hours bringing the total cases to 9,908. The state believes approximately 63 percent of the patients found to have coronavirus have recovered.
The state announced Tuesday morning 22 new deaths were attributed to the virus bringing the total death toll to 457. Seven of the deaths reported Tuesday actually occurred between April 25 and May 3, the state said.
The state reported that 208 deaths were of residents of long-term care facilities or more than 45 percent of all deaths in the state.
The seven-day average of new cases reported dropped to 244, and was at the lowest level in approximately one week.
