July in Mississippi typically means one thing – heat.
We’re used to the heat, but the heat, or more precisely the heat index, is going to hit “oppressive and dangerous” levels later this week and over the weekend, forecasters say.
The National Weather Service’s Jackson Office says the head index on Friday and into the weekend will become dangerous.
Forecasters say wet weather conditions over the past few days will keep dew points at “stifling” levels.
The high humidity combined with mid-90s actual air temperatures will cause heat indexes to reach 106 to 110, NWS forecasters suggest.
Further heat index levels could be higher in some areas.
Please use caution when you have to be outdoors
