The Oxford Police Department is looking for the person responsible for a series of social media posts made this weekend.
On Sunday, OPD was alerted of a string of posts made on Snapchat. The nature of the posts were not immediately made clear on Monday as the police issued a news release about the investigation.
The University of Mississippi and the University Police Department were notified, along with federal law enforcement partners and Snapchat to assist in finding the person associated with the username making the posts. The University concluded the person of interest associated with the username was not a student.
There were also no residents by that person’s name at an apartment complex that was listed in the Snapchat messages. The investigation is ongoing and more updates will be provided as they are available.
If anyone has information in connection to the Snapchat messages, they are asked to contact OPD at 662-232-2400 or to email Investigator Fortner at sfortner@oxfordpolice.net. People can also call CrimeStoppers at 662-234-8744.
