Mississippi may corner the market when it comes to good eating, but apparently not when it comes to the best hamburgers in the country.
That is if you believe the latest survey from The Daily Meal.
A new list sought out some of the best burgers on the map and ranked the top 101 from across the United States and not one place in Mississippi made this list.
Even though the authors of the list said they focused on smaller businesses that are loved by the local communities they serve, no burger joint or country cafe from the Magnolia State was featured on the list.
The Daily Meal “used internal expertise, scoured Yelp and other review sites, looked at coverage by local journalists and gathered suggestions from readers,” to find and rank the burger joints.
“While amazing burger chains abound, this list is focused on smaller establishments and local favorites that have found success branching out to a few locations,” wrote authors Aaliyah Gibson and Dan Myers.
The list stretches from Hawaii to Florida, and is represented by restaurants from across the country. The rankings offer up plenty of potential stops on your next cross country road trip.
Sadly, you don’t have to bother with traveling through Mississippi.
