A Mississippi police department is investigating a collision that left a pedestrian dead.

According to the Tupelo Police Department, the incident occurred Sunday about 6 p.m. The person was walking in the roadway in the 2000 block of Cliff Gookin. The adult male’s body was found at the scene when police arrived.

Police said the driver of the car stopped and was cooperative with the investigation. Although the investigation continues, police said they do not suspect criminal intent at this time.
