A woman and her parents have been charged with capital murder in the 2022 death of a Mississippi man.
More details have emerged in the recent arrests of three people in Pennsylvania and Virginia in the 2022 murder of Kirby Carpenter in Tippah County.
On Thursday, Nov. 30, U.S. Marshals arrested Caitlin Spence in Pennsylvania.
On the same day, in Smyth County, Virginia, deputies along with the US Marshals Service arrested Jeffrey Spence and Karen Spence.
The US Marshals Service was requested to find both suspects and worked with law enforcement across the country’s East Coast. Those efforts eventually led to the arrest of Jeffrey and Karen Spence in the Sugar Grove area of Smyth County.
Caitlin Spence and her parents now face capital murder charges in the 2022 death of Kirby Carpenter, a father of two and Tupelo businessman, who was found dead on Dec. 2, 2022, at his home on County Road 600 in the Dry Creek community in Tippah County.
WTVA in Tupelo reports that officials believe that Caitlin Spence was living with Carpenter at the time of his death.
McCallister said the trio had been considered suspects for a long time. However, a piece of evidence recently came to light that led to their arrests.
