Mississippi Skies: Rainy weather begins for some Friday night. When will the severe risk arrive?

Published 10:39 pm Thursday, December 7, 2023

Friday is a day of transition from our dry, cool weather to wet, warm weather. We’re also becoming more confident in the schedule and risks for any potential severe weather.

A Level 2 covers western and central Mississippi with an eastern boundary roughly from Eupora to Metro Jackson to Brookhaven Saturday evening and Saturday night. The main risks are severe storms, hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.

A Level 1 includes most of the rest of the state and includes the same risks at a lesser confidence level.
