The Southeastern Conference announced football schedules for the 2024 season Wednesday and the biggest news for Ole Miss and Mississippi State fans may be that the annual Thanksgiving Egg Bowl will not be on Thanksgiving Day next year.
According to the schedules announced Wednesday, Dec. 13, Mississippi State will play at Ole Miss on Saturday, Nov. 30, two days after Thanksgiving.
The annual rivalry game has not always been played on Thanksgiving.
If the game remains scheduled for Nov. 30, 2024, the game will be just the second time since 2016 that the two programs have not played on Thanksgiving Day.
The game is set to be played in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on the Ole Miss campus. Ole Miss officials have said the date is subject to change.
Mississippi fans who look forward to other annual matchups with SEC rivals may also be disappointed.
According to the SEC announcement, Mississippi State will not play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, or Kentucky next year. Ole Miss will also not play Alabama and Auburn.
