A man was shot to death when he was trying to break up a fight at a Mississippi apartment complex Sunday night.

WLBT News in Jackson reports that police responded to a shots fired call at Wood Village Apartments at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, the man, who has not been identified, was trying to break up a fight between a man and two women when he was shot.

The shooting victim then reportedly retreated into his apartment before he died of his injuries.
