Hit and run one hour after new year begins — man arrested, pedestrian airlifted to hospital

A Tennessee man has been charged in a New Year’s Day hit-and-run accident that ended with a pedestrian being airlifted to a hospital.
The Oxford Police Department reports that officers responded at 1 a.m. New Year’s Day to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
Officers quickly responded and rendered aid to the injured pedestrian until EMS arrived. The victim was
taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi but later flown to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. The victim is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
Patrol officers found the vehicle and driver, Parker Wesley Nannie, 20, of Germantown, Tennessee, a short time afterwards. He was arrested and charged with Duties of Driver Involved in Accident Resulting in Personal Injury or Death.
Nannie was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.
