Mississippi Skies: Two chances of severe weather over the next few days

A portion of Mississippi now has a risk for a few severe storms Friday evening and Friday night.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a Level 1 risk along and near the Gulf Coast. Risks include a tornado or two, strong winds, hail, and heavy rain. The risks begin about 8 or 9 p.m. and continues overnight.
Otherwise, we’ll have plenty of rainfall across the state. Temperatures will be warmer with showers beginning mostly in the afternoon. Some rainfall overnight and Saturday morning could be on the heavy side.
Our next risk of severe storms covers much more of the state Monday night.
North Mississippi
Showers in the afternoon with a high of 47. More showers overnight with a low of 37.
Central Mississippi
Showers in the afternoon with a high of 53. Showers overnight. Low of 40.
South Mississippi
Showers with a thunderstorm possible. High of 57 with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour. Showers and storms overnight. Low of 44.
Gulf Coast
A chance of showers with a thunderstorm possible in the afternoon. Some of the storms could be severe. High of 65. Showers and storms overnight with a severe storm possible. Low of 49.
