A suspect accused of shooting an older woman, sexually assaulting her and setting her on fire has been captured after a week-long manhunt.
Sammy Patrick, wanted for the death of an elderly Scott County woman and the robbery of a Woodville Subway restaurant, has been captured by the U.S. Marshal Service, said Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.
Officials had been searching for Patrick, 36, since Dec. 30, when a family member of Dee Eady, 73, of Forest, found her dead inside her home on Old Jackson Road in Scott County. Eady was allegedly fatally shot, abused and her body burned at her home in Forest. A family member found her dead in her carport.
Patten said Patrick’s capture at a gas station in Byram happened late Friday morning.
On Sunday, Patrick is suspected of robbing the Subway restaurant in Woodville at about 2:50 p.m., said Woodville Police Chief Lemuel Rutledge.
“No one was hurt during the robbery, but the clerk was shaken,” Rutledge said.
On Thursday, a vehicle Patrick was driving was spotted in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.
