Two minors arrested after tip leads Mississippi officers to body in wooded area

Two minors are in custody in Port Gibson and being charged as adults in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old man.
Police said they received a tip on Thursday, Jan. 18, about a body being in a wooded area on Utopia Drive. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 23-year-old Ethen McGrew, inside a white SUV with a gunshot wound.
Authorities believe the shooting that took McGrew’s life occurred in the late on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Phillips said both suspects were under an “investigative hold” until their initial court appearance, which occurred Friday afternoon in front of Judge Mareesha Odom.
According to the Port Gibson Police Department, Jorderrious Barber was arraigned for murder and denied bond. A second man, Jeremiah Timmons, was arraigned on accessory after the fact and did not receive a bond due to a previous charge for a drive-by shooting.
