Mississippi Skies: Rainy weather begins Monday with an entire week of moisture coming
Published 10:31 pm Sunday, January 21, 2024
Monday will begin our week of rain as a system settles in the region that will pump plenty of Gulf moisture across the state. Not all of us will get rain on Monday, but a few isolated showers are possible.
Most of us will have rain beginning Monday night, lasting through at least Thursday. We’re expecting several inches of rain through the week. We’ll also have some gusty winds Monday and Monday night.
Temperatures will be more seasonable, but we’ll still have some cold wind chills in the morning. We’ll remain above freezing across the state for the next several days, even at night.
Models are still hinting at a few strong storms possible, but this will be mainly a rain event. Flash flooding and river flooding could both become issues by midweek.
