A Mississippi woman faces murder charges after an ex-boyfriend she allegedly shot on Friday died in the hospital over the weekend.

Jackson Police report that Allison Ballard, 49, was originally charged with domestic aggravated assault after she allegedly shot her ex-boyfriend on Watersview Drive on Friday, Jan. 19

The man was transported to the hospital with what was described as life-threatening injuries.

Police then learned on Sunday, Jan. 21, that the man died from his injuries at the hospital.

Police said the charges gainst Ballard will be upgraded to murder.
