Construction for Buc-ee’s to close Mississippi interstate

Published 8:39 pm Wednesday, February 14, 2024

All lanes of I-10 westbound at Menge Ave. will be closed overnight on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as part of the Menge Ave. interchange project funded by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors and Buc-ee’s. The closure will allow a key process to take place in the construction of the new overpass. While westbound lanes are closed, crews will be able to deliver and place concrete beams as well as perform bracing and install safety devices across the westbound lanes.

During the closure, traffic will be re-routed utilizing the Menge Ave. exit and entrance ramps. Detour signage will be in place, and drivers may seek alternate routes. Motorists are reminded to be on high alert for roadside workers.

The timing of the closure is subject to change and dependent upon construction progress, availability of materials and weather conditions.

The project’s scope includes replacing the Menge Ave. bridge over I-10, widening entrance and exit ramps and widening Firetower Road. Construction is expected to be completed in November 2024.
