Mississippi man pleads guilty to beating wife with pipe, wrench in front of children

A Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to beating his wife to death with a pipe and wrench in the presence of the couple’s children.
WLOX in Biloxi reports that Robert John Oshinski, 39, of Long Beach, pleaded guilty to murdering his Ashley Barbara in January 2022.
District Attorney W. Crosby Parker announced the plea Tuesday.
Investigators determined that Barbara had died after being beaten inside a camper, parked in Long Beach, where she, Oshinski, and their three children lived.
Barbara was brought to the emergency room badly beaten and unconscious on Jan. 9, 2022, where she died of injuries.
During a plea hearing, officials said Barbara body show signs of multiple beatings over a period of time and that she had sustained fractures to her hands, ribs, jaw, nose, orbital bone, and spine, as well as lacerations to multiple organs.
After accepting the guilty plea on the charge of first-degree murder, Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Mueller sentenced Oshinski to a life sentence in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, which is the only sentence available in Mississippi on the charge of first-degree murder.
