In the early hours Friday, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to a call regarding an alarm at TGC Outdoors on Highway 7 North in Lafayette County.
A LCSO deputy, who happened to be in the vicinity, observed a vehicle leaving the business and conducted a traffic stop.
While attempting the traffic stop, the occupants of the vehicle opened fire at the deputy before fleeing northbound on Highway 7. Despite the deputy’s efforts to stop the suspect vehicle, the perpetrators managed to escape into Marshall County. A pursuit ensued, but the suspects ultimately evaded the deputy.
Sheriff Joey East expressed his gratitude to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Holly Springs Police Department, and Oxford Police Department for their swift and collaborative efforts in assisting with the search and subsequent apprehension of the suspects.
Sheriff East stated, “I am deeply thankful for the support and cooperation of our neighboring law enforcement agencies. Their assistance was invaluable in ensuring the safety and security of our community.”
Following an extensive search, the suspects, identified as Shoundarius Bogard, Mykial Penilton, and Montrell Ramsey, were located and taken into custody. Additionally, multiple firearms believed to be connected to the incident were recovered.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at (662) 234-6421. The deputy was not injured in the shooting.
