Four months after man died in Mississippi hospital, authorities still looking for his killer and asking for public’s help

Four months after a man died in a Mississippi hospital, officials are still looking for his killer and are now reaching out to the public for any information that might be related to the case.
According to a Facebook post shared by Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers, deputies with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office responded on October 30, 2023, to reports of an assault near Pelathatchie.
There, deputies found Kenneth Lee Shoemaker, who was transported to a Mississippi hospital for treatment, where Shoemaker died on December 7, 2023.
An initial investigation suggested that Shoemaker’s last known whereabouts were traced to the area of Hwy 43 north of the City of Pelahatchie.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for any information that may aid in identifying and apprehending those responsible for Shoemaker’s murder.
