One person was injured in a shooting involving a Mississippi deputy.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation reports that the shooting involved the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting reportedly occurred Friday evening on Old White Road South during an attempted traffic stop.

A driver reportedly refused to stop for deputies and led the officer on a chase that ended on Landfield Road in West Point.

The driver then reportedly got out of the vehicle and led the deputy on a foot chase before showing a firearm to the deputy.

The deputy then reportedly fired his weapon, hitting the suspect. The subject was taken to a nearby hospital.
