Mississippi legislators have approved $160 million to make highway improvements in one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.
Officials from the City of Oxford celebrated the legislation in a news release Friday. The funds will allow for the four-lane construction of Highway 7 South from the Highway 7/Belk Boulevard intersection to the Highway 7/9 roundabout.
“This, along with the $15,000,000 appropriated for the project in 2023, will allow for this much-needed improvement to become a reality,” the news release said. “The success is a result of local and state leaders working collectively and will improve the safety, quality of life and economic opportunity for our community and those around us.”
