Mississippi authorities are investigating after a man was found lying in the street with a fatal gunshot to the chest.

Vicksburg police report that one man is dead following a shooting Tuesday night on Locust Street.

Officials with VPD said officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Locust Street at 11:14 p.m. in a response to a shooting. Once on the scene, officers discovered a Black male “laying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest.”

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.

VPD has not yet released the victim’s name, nor have they reported any information related to suspects or arrests, but added more information will be released as it is made available.
