A woman who swerved off a rural Mississippi road escaped after the car she was driving burst into flames.

A witness to the accident took photos of the crash and shared them with The Natchez Democrat newspaper.

The crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Liberty Road.

The car caught fire, and the Natchez Fire Department arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze, said Natchez resident Jack Blaney, who witnessed the scene.

The woman driving the vehicle was not injured.

No information was available on what caused the accident.

Blaney praised the work of the fire department.

“We thought the car was going to blow up, but they ran up to it like they were bullet proof,” he said.
