Mississippi man dies while trying to save wife injured falling into lake during late-night boat ride

A Mississippi man has died while trying to save his wife in a late-night boating accident.
The Natchez Democrat newspaper reports that officials with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Officer confirmed that the tragic accident occurred on Lake St. John in Louisiana shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officials say the 69-year-old man and his wife were returning to their pier after a late-night boat ride on the lake. The wife reportedly sustained injuries when she fell off the boat, and the husband then jumped into the water to save her and drowned.
The wife survived the accident.
The name of the man was not identified by officials, pending notification of family.
CPSO officials say the sheriff’s office received the call at 11:39 p.m. Saturday. No foul play is suspected.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries is handling the incident because it was a boating accident.
