A death investigation has been launched after human remains have been found near a Mississippi creek

Officials with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department are investigating after the discovery of human remains near Tom Windham Road near Tallahala Creek.

Authorities are currently gathering evidence at the scene of the discovery to determine the cause and manner of death.

Jones County Sheriff Berlin said his office will provide updates as more information becomes available.
