A Mississippi man died when the car he was driving struck a fence Wednesday night.

WCBI in Columbus reports that Johnny Kenyatta Elliott, 43, was killed in a wreck on 15th Street near the Mississippi University for Women campus.

The wreck occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Elliot was reportedly driving north on 15th Street when his SUV left the roadway and struck a column in a fence near MUW.

Officials with the Lowndes County Coroner’s Office said Elliott was the only person in the vehicle when the accident occurred.
