Mississippi man arrested after reportedly firing into crowd celebrating Fourth of July

An Independence Day celebration turned into a crime scene when a Mississippi man fired into a crowd of people shooting fireworks.

The incident happened on Cumberland Road in Ocean Springs on Thursday night.

WLOX in Biloxi reports that authorities arrested 68-year-old Henry Williams Andray for allegedly firing into the Fourth of July gathering, injuring seven people.

According to Sgt. Parker Bourque of the Ocean Springs Police Department, Andray faces four counts of aggravated assault.

The incident occurred after 9 p.m. as neighbors hosted a backyard party and began lighting fireworks.

Andray allegedly fired birdshot into the crowd multiple times, causing injuries to several partygoers. Four victims were transported to the hospital with injuries to their arms, legs, chest, and faces.

Bourque confirmed that all victims are in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.

Officials report that Andray has refused to give a statement, leaving his motive unclear.

Andray is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $1,000,000. He could face additional charges as the investigation progresses.
