Mississippi Highway Patrol: Four people killed in crashes on Mississippi highways during holiday weekend

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) investigated crashes involving four fatalities during the 2024 Fourth of July holiday weekend. In 2023, state troopers also investigated four fatalities.
Jocelin Sanchez, 23, of Tylertown, was killed in a fatal crash shortly before midnight Thursday. The wreck occurred on Highway 13 in Pearl River County, northwest of Biloxi.
Steve Epps, 51, of Jackson, was killed in a fatal crash Friday afternoon when his pickup truck reportedly went off the road and crashed into a tree. The wreck occurred on Interstate 20 in Scott County, between Jackson and Meridian.
Kenneth Willies, 40, of Memphis, was killed in a fatal crash on Friday evening when the vehicle he was driving collided with a ditch and overturned. The wreck occurred on Highway 3 in Sunflower County in the Mississippi Delta.
Dustin Denton, 40, of Tylertown, was killed Saturday afternoon when the Jeep crashed into a tree and overturned. The wreck occurred on Highway 51 in Pike County, in Southwest Mississippi.
During the holiday weekend, Mississippi State troopers investigated 141 crashes that resulted in 45 injuries. During the law enforcement period, 6,474 citations were issued, and 149 DUI arrests were made.
