Three arrested, accused of stealing communication wiring in North Mississippi

Three people have been arrested after they reportedly stole AT&T copper wiring in North Mississippi to sell for scrap.

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office has taken several reports of stolen AT&T utility wires throughout Lafayette County since January.

Through an investigation, several persons of interest were developed from people scrapping copper wire in north Mississippi.

Kevin Smith, 47, of Sardis, and Timothy Nissen, 39, and Lisa Nissen, 37, both of Batesville, were arrested on a traffic stop on South Lamar Boulevard and charged with grand theft.

They were taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Smith and Timothy Nissen were each booked on a $25,000 bond, and Lisa Nissen received a $15,000 bond.
