Mississippi man arrested 13 years after he allegedly sexually assaulted 8-year-old child

A Mississippi man has been charged with the sexual battery of a child regarding incidents that occurred more than 13 years ago.
Frankie Charles Clanton, 55, of Tupelo, was arrested and charged with two counts of the sexual battery of a child under 14.
Clanton was served a court capias warrant from Lee County Circuit Court about a 2019 report in which a minor stated they were sexually assaulted by an individual.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that Clanton is accused of committing the crimes in late 2010 and early 2011 and that he allegedly had sex with a girl who turned 8 years old at the time of the assaults.
Clanton was 42 years old at the time of the alleged assaults.
