The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has introduced a new initiative, “Transportation to Health,” aimed at providing crucial transportation services for patients. Funded by a federal grant, this program facilitates transportation to and from county health department clinics and offices for health services or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) appointments.

Additionally, patients can use this service to pick up prescriptions received during health department appointments, MSDH announced.

Adults can schedule rides in one of three ways:

  1. During the appointment scheduling process, patients will be asked if they need transportation.
  2. By calling 855-767-0170 at least 30 minutes before an appointment.
  3. If needing to fill a health department-issued prescription, patients can call to arrange a ride to the pharmacy or add a stop to their trip.

The MSDH has partnered with Uber, a ride-sharing service, to transport its patients. The department is actively seeking Uber drivers in multiple counties to support this program.
