A Mississippi oil company announced a $85 million expansion that will add 200 jobs to its workforce.
Ergon made the announcement Tuesday. The company said the expansion will double the size of its existing Flowood headquarters.
Ergon was created 70 years ago and has expanded operations to serve customers around the globe. The $85 million expansion doubles the size of the existing headquarters.
Construction on the expansion is expected to be completed within a year.
Ergon, Inc. is a privately owned company based in Flowood, Mississippi. The company, founded by Leslie Lampton in 1954 with two employees, refines and distributes petroleum products and serves customers in over 90 countries.
Governor Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) said the story of Ergon represents the spirit of Mississippi entrepreneurship.
“These are jobs like accountants and engineers and others. They will continue to be able to provide for their families. This is the type of investments that will help lead more and more of our young people to stay in the state of Mississippi,” Reeves said.
