A Mississippi attorney is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into a jail.

On Friday, Hinds County Judge Johnnie McDaniel set a $75,000 bond for attorney Daniel Sidney Dale, 49, who was arrested Thursday for trying to sneak cell phones, tobacco, scales, and what appeared to be marijuana into the Hinds County Detention Center.

According to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, Dale was caught on video using a silver briefcase to transport the contraband. He allegedly handed a cell phone and a brown envelope full of illegal items to two detainees, William Antonio Harness, Jr., and Marcell Cornelius Martin. Both men are currently held on separate murder charges.

Dale now faces two counts of conspiracy and three counts of introducing contraband to a correctional facility. Authorities are investigating further, and additional arrests may follow. This incident has raised concerns about security within the detention center and the potential involvement of other individuals in the scheme.
