Six people — including 3-year old — injured when shots fired into crowd in Mississippi neighborhood

Six people —including a 3-year-old girl — were injured when someone fired shots from a vehicle into a group of people gathered on a Mississippi neighborhood street.

The incident happened at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Maple Street in Jackson.

Jackson Police confirm that six people were injured in the incident. A 3-year-old girl was shot in the foot and was expected to recover. Others injured in the incident ranged in age from 23 to 52 years old. None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Police report that the shots were fired from a small gray sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, that did not have a license plate.

No arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
