University of Mississippi academic advisor on leave after enticement of child arrest

An academic advisor at the University of Mississippi has been placed on leave and banned from campus after he was arrested on enticement of a child charges.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit and OPD started an investigation on Tuesday after a citizen reported a possible crime.
After further investigation and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, officers arrested Michael Anthony Smith, 37, of Oxford for Enticement of a Child.
He was arrested the same day and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. He will have a bond set by the Municipal Court judge at a later time.
According to the University of Mississippi’s website, Smith works as an academic advisor at the university. According to a university spokesman, Smith was placed on leave Tuesday evening and is not allowed on campus.
