A significant error occurred at a Mississippi gas station has resulted in diesel gas being pumped into non-diesel vehicles, leading to headaches for customers and the fuel delivery service that made the mistake.

A gas delivery worker mistakenly filled the regular gasoline tank with diesel fuel at the Exxon station on the corner of West Main Street and Highway 45 Alternate in West Point on Wednesday, August 21.

The Exxon station addressed the situation in a Facebook post, apologizing for the inconvenience and assuring customers that they are committed to making things right. “If anyone has issues with their cars, bring your car so we can fix it. Bring your receipt so I can see what time you purchased gas,” the post stated. “We always look after all our customers, so don’t worry—we’ll take care of everyone whose car was affected by our fuel.”

The company responsible for the fuel delivery has offered to repair the affected vehicles. Customers are urged to bring their receipts to the station for assistance. Diesel and gasoline engines are not interchangeable, and using the wrong fuel can cause significant engine damage.
