Mississippi man charged after reportedly threatening to ‘assassinate’ President Biden, harm Vice President Harris, former President Obama

A Mississippi man has been charged with making threats against President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Kevin G. Ritz on Friday.

Kyl Alton Hall, 37, who resides in Desoto County, was indicted on August 20 after posting multiple threats on X, formerly known as Twitter, in late July. Hall allegedly threatened to “kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane” of President Biden. He also made threats against Vice President Harris and former President Obama.

Hall, who is registered to vote in DeSoto County, Mississippi, previously lived in Florida, where he was a registered Republican and has a criminal record dating back to 2003. His past offenses include traffic violations, petty theft, and burglary. Records indicate that Hall moved to DeSoto County, near Memphis, in 2020.

The indictment charges Hall with two counts of making threats against a sitting president and vice president, and one count of making a threat against a former president. Each charge carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison.

The U.S. Secret Service investigated the case, which will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Will Crow.
