Investigation launched after three found dead in Mississippi home

The Leake County Sheriff’s Office has released details about a tragic incident that occurred on August 24, 2024, in the Freetrade Community.

According to the release, deputies were dispatched to a residence at 7180 Hwy 488 around 3:58 p.m. after receiving a distressing call from a woman concerned about her friend’s welfare. The caller reported that she had not heard from her friend all day and, upon visiting the home, found her friend lying face down on the floor, unresponsive. She also discovered the friend’s husband hanging and unresponsive.

The individuals were later identified as Kelly Duarte and her husband, Reynaldo Duarte. Law enforcement officers also found a third person, Robert Walker, unresponsive at the scene.

Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings and a firearm inside the residence. All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by the Leake County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson said more information will be released as it becomes available.
