A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute 13 grams of fentanyl.

Brandon Lamont Myers, 41, of Picayune, a career offender, has now been convicted of three drug trafficking offenses in the past decade. At the time of this offense, he was on parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a previous drug conviction.

On August 14, 2023, law enforcement officers seized $61,276, 13 grams of fentanyl, plastic bags, and digital scales from Myers’ residence in Pearl River County, Mississippi. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) notes that fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid, up to 100 times more potent than morphine, with as little as two milligrams potentially being lethal.

Myers was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 21, 2024, and pled guilty on April 24, 2024. The case was investigated by the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Picayune Police Department as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets high-level drug traffickers and criminal networks. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Jones are leading the prosecution.
