Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a man and a woman were found shot dead at a Mississippi residence.

WLBT News in Jackson reports that deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 2500 block of Warriors Trail shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies found a man and a woman dead outside near the backdoor of the residence. According to Sheriff Pace, the man shot the woman multiple times before turning the gun on himself. Investigators have recovered a firearm at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident was a murder-suicide, but authorities continue to investigate. The man and woman were reportedly in an on-and-off domestic relationship.

Sheriff Pace emphasized that no names will be released at this time to respect the families’ privacy. He also assured the public that there was no further threat to the community and that no other individuals were involved in the incident.
