Officials are reporting a death at a Mississippi prison that is being described as an overdose investigation.

WAPT News in Jackson is reporting that a body was recovered from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl.

It is unclear if the death was that of an inmate or staffer at the prison.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey confirmed the investigation but provided few details in the ongoing investigation.

Bailey said his agency is assisting with the case.
