Four people have been arrested in a string of Mississippi burglaries of unlocked cars where firearms, computers and other belongings were stolen.
Lowndes County detectives made the arrests following a string of auto burglaries early Sunday morning in the New Hope Community near West Mill Road, Thurlow Road, and Phillips Hill Road. Deputies responded to reports of burglaries from several unlocked cars, and a neighborhood canvass revealed that at least eight vehicles had been targeted. In some cases, belongings were stolen, while in others, vehicles were found with their doors open but nothing missing.
Utilizing surveillance footage from homeowners and other investigative methods, deputies were able to track down the suspects. The four individuals, identified as three males and one female, range in age from 20 to 22 years old. They have all been charged with possession of stolen property, and detectives recovered two firearms, a laptop, and other personal belongings from the burglarized vehicles.
Those arrested include:
- Glenn Rose, 20, of Columbus
- Javarion Davis, 20, of Columbus
- Delmonte Thomas, 22, of Aliceville, AL
- McKenzie Harriston, 20, of Jacksonville, FL
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities expecting to bring additional charges and potentially make more arrests.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins reminded residents to lock their cars and secure their belongings, emphasizing, “If you LOCK YOUR CARS and secure your belongings, you are almost guaranteeing that you will not be a victim of a burglary.”
