Three men — including two with outstanding warrants from Texas and Lousiana — have been arrested on murder charges in connection with a shooting at a Mississippi apartment complex.
The three suspects have been charged in the murder of Vandarren McCray, a 38-year-old man from Clarksdale, who was fatally shot at Kirby Estates Apartments in Robinsonville, Mississippi, on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Jarvis Grant, 32, of Robinsonville, was arrested on September 6 and charged with murder and conspiracy. Two others were arrested on September 4: Tanio Hall, 30, also of Robinsonville, faces charges of murder and conspiracy, while Tavion Crutchfield, 23, of Louisiana, has been charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at two residences and a vehicle at Kirby Estates Apartments during the investigation. Deputies responded to a 911 call around 7:52 p.m. on September 2, reporting a shooting at 2669 Kirby Road. When authorities arrived, they found McCray with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite first responders’ efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene by Tunica County Coroner Glen Grant.
During the September 4 search, Hall and Crutchfield were taken into custody for unrelated outstanding warrants. Hall was wanted in Texas for weapon offenses and failure to appear, while Crutchfield faced charges in Louisiana for false imprisonment and battery involving a dating partner.
The investigation into McCray’s murder is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office or CrimeStoppers, with rewards of up to $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest.
