Mississippi man arrested after multi-state chase ends with shooting in Alabama

John William Griffin, a Mississippi man, has been extradited back to Tishomingo County after leading authorities on a multi-state chase that ended in a deputy-involved shooting in Alabama.
The chase, which began in Mississippi, crossed into Colbert County, Alabama, where Griffin allegedly fired shots at deputies. The pursuit ended when law enforcement in Alabama responded with gunfire, injuring Griffin. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment and later released on September 9.
Griffin was then taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and extradited back to Mississippi, where he was booked into the Tishomingo County Jail on a $1,000,788 bond. He faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and five counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.
