Rising star in opera world to give free vocal performance at Mississippi university campus

The Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA) is excited to announce a special afternoon of music and learning with acclaimed bass Kenneth Kellogg as part of the CAAPA Recital and Masterclass Series.
This exclusive, free event will occur on Sunday, September 29, at 1 p.m. at the historic Oakland Memorial Chapel, 1000 ASU Drive, at the Alcorn State University campus in Lorman.
Admission to the event is free.
Praised for his commanding stage presence and rich, resonant voice, Kenneth Kellogg is a rising star in the world of opera, quickly gaining recognition as a sought-after young artist. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Kellogg began his formal music training at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. His extensive repertoire spans iconic roles such as the title character in Don Giovanni, Mephistopheles in Faust, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, and more.
Kellogg has performed on prestigious stages across the U.S. and Europe, including the San Francisco Opera, LA Opera, Washington National Opera, and Opera de Lausanne. He is known for his mastery of traditional opera and involvement in groundbreaking contemporary works, such as his portrayal of boxer Emile Griffith in Terence Blanchard’s Champion: An Opera in Jazz.
The CAAPA Recital and Masterclass Series presents a rare opportunity for attendees to witness a master at work, as Kellogg will offer an inspiring recital followed by a masterclass. Participants will gain valuable insights into the art of singing directly from one of the industry’s most talented voices.
